I've tried to read this book but I don't think I will finish it. The writing isn't very good -- the author tells us everything instead of letting us learn about the characters as they go about their business and so it gets to be a boring slog. Plus, I had the overwhelming impression when the book first opened that the Earl is gay so it's very hard to picture him lusting after the female lead. It also seems like the female lead should be falling in love with the Earl's secretary not the Earl, so even harder to believe they might actually fall in love with each other. I feel like I'm fairly tolerant of a large range of writing styles and story types, but this one is not very good. Maybe find another and don't waste your time.Product details

I am finding all kinds of good authors lately ! Wendy writes the best romances I hope she has a lot of other books to read !!
I enjoyed this book! It was a cute story and you cared about the characters. It was a simple love story which is sometimes just what you want to read!
I liked this book. It was fairly predictable and light yet I enjoyed the storyline and really loved the protagonist. The author often summarized events and jumped around with different points of view but it was still a pretty good story.
Ms Andrews has a style of writing that is exciting. She sets the stage then builds around it very quickly with many twist and turns that leaves you guessing until the end. You can not predict the outcome of her books until she is ready to give you the climax! It keeps you reading long past your bedtime!
This is as much historical novel as a romance novel. The portions of the novel relating to Bedlam and the insanity of King George are very well done. Additionally, the complex estate and inheritance issues are also well handled. The issues relating to the ton and the season are also well done. A much more accurate and entertaining novel than most. A predictable story about a young serving made who turns out to be a titled lady. Young lord falls in love with her. Her wicked relatives want to throw her back into the madhouse from which she had escaped so to get her fortune. The good guys and gals are unbelievably perfect. The bad ones are cartoonish in their evil.

I enjoyed the story. I would have enjoyed more scenes between the main characters. The story was sweet and clean. Again, it would have been more interesting if the plot had gone further such as her guardian finding her and trying to kidnap her, a little more excitement. Although the author drew the reader in, she felt to make me feel the emotions of the characters, the struggle between the main characters should have been pronounced. Think of it this way as an artist, you can paint or draw but if you fail to bring across what you're trying to convey it's a failure not a master piece.
